ALHAMBRA is the most visited tourist attraction and has spectacular views of the city and the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

The Alhambra was a royal city filled with a combination of Islamic and Spanish, and history.
There are cafes and restaurants available near the Alhambra to enjoy.
The surrounding grounds of the Alhambra are forest-like enjoyable.
There are scenic walkways encircling the Alhambra.
Plenty of areas, to relax and take in the view.
Make sure you bring your selfie stick but more importantly stay hydrated, bottled water sunscreen and a hat for those hot summer days. A good pair of confortable walking shoes is a must, as you can see there is much more ground to cover. Make sure you bring a stroller for your baby or toddlers, and snacks.
Unfortunately, tickets sell out fast, usually by mid-morning. You can buy your tickets in advance, thru a tour group on line. The cost of tickets at the Alhambra starts at 5 euros to 14 euros (price subject to change). Note: there are areas of the Alhambra where you can enjoy for free: Alhambra woods, Puerta de la Justicia, Puerta de Vino, The Palacid de Carlos V, a free museum inside the Palacid de Carlos V.
Audio guide headphones are available for a nominal price, it is worth the few extra euros to purchase. This way you can leisurely enjoy a self-guided tour at your own pace.
La Puerta de la Justicia, the Justice Gate is the grand entrance to the royal palace and the largest of the four outer gates.

Carlos Quinto was the Grandson of Queen Isabel and King Ferdinand.
You can’t miss this beautiful Renaissance palace in the middle of this Moorish fortress.

Patio De Los Leones, The Courtyard of The Liones.
This patio and garden are the most exquisite courtyards of the Nassarrid Dynasty. With its beautiful pillars and fountains of the twelve lions signifying the twelve suns of the zodiac with a lovely poem inscribed around the fountain by Ibn Zamrak.

The Islamic architectural design becomes real, in this upside-down dome-like honeycomb structure-the vaulted ceiling made of lace-like plasterwork and covered wood. Windows bring out the intricate light effects throughout the entire day and night, is called the Cupola of Monarabes. The Cupola is in the Hall of the Two Sisters.
This painting on the ceiling is of the ten seated men during the Nasrid Dynasty.
The primary element is the Muslin handwriting, found throughout the Alhambra, giving praises to God.

The Generalife was built as a countryside retreat to overlook the Alhambra. Tranquil lush gardens and water fountains encircle the grounds.

  1. I have to fully agree Cindy. I visited it in March 1993. It is definitely the most fabulous structure/building/experience that I have ever had the pleasure to visit. Sumptuously and exquisitely Arabian, I was stunned by the entire thing. A man made Paradise, almost literally. The Alhambra Palace Hotel looks fittingly gorgeous too, as you’d expect for something that bears that illustrious name.
